"Backroom Heroes" - Thank You
“Backroom Heroes!” Thank you to the nearly 8000 employees at 37 pharmaceutical distribution centres across Canada working tirelessly to ensure that brave frontline professionals and caregivers receive the life-saving medicines and medical supplies for patients in their critical roles while continuing to meet the daily needs of all Canadians during this pandemic crisis.
Canada’s pharmaceutical supply chain heroes
The Canadian Association for Pharmacy Distribution Management (CAPDM) is proud of our pharmaceutical distributor members’ response to COVID-19. Their work more than ever is crucial to the health of Canadians. In the three months since the WHO declared COVID-19 a pandemic, Canadians would generate nearly 200 Million prescriptions in ‘normal’ times. These are not normal times and Distributors needed to respond quickly and decisively to unprecedented spikes in pharmaceutical demand. They continue to be vigilant, closely monitoring and safeguarding against global supply and transportation disruptions. They have ramped up inventories of critical drugs to meet patient needs.
Protecting patient access to medicines takes a coordinated effort from distribution centre employees and transportation personnel, all of whom are working harder than ever to meet the demands this pandemic imposes. Our member organizations have made significant investments and taken unprecedented measures to support and protect personnel within safe work environments.
Here today, and every day…
As COVID-19 challenges us in countless ways, you can count on the teams at Canada’s pharmaceutical distribution centres. Operations personnel continue to do everything they can to avoid supply interruptions. It may not be business as usual, yet, we must and will continue to reach over 11,000 hospitals, pharmacies, and clinics from coast-to-coast-to-coast, safely and securely with the vital medications you and your loved ones require.
