Chairman’s Message
I am proud to serve on the board of an industry association that is the backbone of healthcare in Canada.
Representing healthcare distribution in Canada, CAPDM member companies work within a highly regulated pharmacy supply chain to ensure that Canadians receive their medications safely and securely, when they need them, regardless of where they live.
Behind the scenes, CAPDM’s sophisticated pharmaceutical distribution network delivers over 95% of close to 1 billion prescription medicines with exacting precision to more than 11,000 pharmacies, hospitals and clinics. Canadian patients can count on getting their medication on time and can have confidence in their integrity.
In my role overseeing McKesson Canada’s pharmaceutical distribution operations, I am acutely aware of how Canada’s pharmacy supply chain has evolved. Pharmaceutical distributors across Canada have maximized operational efficiencies through investments in IT, new facilities, innovation, and automation. We deliver value and cost savings to Canada’s healthcare system and have long been globally recognized as a global gold-standard for pharmaceutical distribution.
Today, the exemplary service standards of our industry are threatened by market conditions, as well as a distribution reimbursement model that has not kept pace with fiscal realities. It is our association’s top priority to preserve the service levels that Canadians have come to rely on. CAPDM is actively working with governments and industry stakeholders to find solutions that support a path forward to sustain Canada’s first-class pharmacy supply chain.
In the meantime, we continue to deliver on our promise of ensuring safe, secure, and timely access to healthcare products to all Canadians in the face of mounting industry pressures.
Together with the leadership of an experienced and committed board, the CAPDM team and its membership, I am confident that we will find a viable way forward.
I invite you to become engaged if you are not already, or to join this most important healthcare organization so that you may become a part of the voice of an industry that drives healthcare in Canada.
Regards,
Dimitris Polygenis
