Celebrating 60 Years of CAPDM: Honouring Our Legacy, Building Our Future

On June 29, 1965, the Canadian Association for Pharmacy Distribution Management (CAPDM) was officially established—and with it, a new chapter in Canada’s pharmaceutical supply chain began. What started as a bold vision shared by a few has grown into a trusted, nationwide network spanning coast-to-coast-to-coast—delivering life-saving medicines to community pharmacies and hospitals with unwavering safety, reliability, and efficiency.

For 60 years, CAPDM has stood at the heart of Canada’s pharmaceutical supply chain—an essential component of our healthcare infrastructure. Our journey has been defined by a steadfast commitment to progress, a spirit of collaboration, and a drive to continuously evolve in response to the needs of Canadians.

“CAPDM and its members have thrived at the intersection of transformation, innovation, and resilience—adapting to change, responding to crises, and leading the evolution of pharmaceutical distribution with purpose and excellence,” said Angelique Berg, President & CEO of CAPDM. “Our 60th anniversary is not only a moment to reflect on what we’ve achieved—it’s a call to action.”

As we mark this milestone, we’re reminded that Canada’s pharmaceutical supply chain plays a critical role in a complex, fast-moving global ecosystem. Canada’s role in shaping best practices, ensuring continuity of supply, and responding to cross-border challenges has enabled us to have disproportionate influence in an increasingly integrated world. That strength—our ability to lead with trust, agility, and alignment—has defined CAPDM’s legacy. And, it will continue to guide our future.

We invite our members, both long-standing and new, to be part of writing the next chapter. Share your thoughts with us. Get involved. Join a CAPDM committee. Help drive forward-thinking solutions, amplify our industry voice, and strengthen a system that continues to serve Canadians better well into the future.

Thank you to every member, partner, and stakeholder who has helped shape our journey. Together, we’ve built something remarkable. And we’re just getting started.

Here’s to 60 years of CAPDM.
