Are you interested in understanding how the Canadian pharmaceutical industry really works—from drug discovery and regulation to commercialization and patient access? PharAhead™ invites learners, early-career professionals, and anyone exploring a future in healthcare to join the “Introduction to the Canadian Pharmaceutical Industry” course, offered in partnership with the University of Alberta.
This course provides a practical, insider’s perspective on how drugs are developed, approved, and made accessible to patients in Canada. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of key stakeholders, including Health Canada, CADTH, INESSS, PCPA, and private payers, as well as the roles played by pharmaceutical manufacturers, patient support programs (PSPs), and specialty pharmacies.
Through real-world case studies, industry insights, and interactive sessions, learners will explore how innovative medicines move from lab to launch—and how policy, pricing, and patient outcomes shape the healthcare landscape. Designed and delivered by Daanyaal Bandukwala and Nicole Serena, founders of PharAhead™, the course bridges practical knowledge with applied industry experience, giving participants valuable tools to support their career growth.
Whether you’re a student exploring healthcare careers, a professional transitioning into pharma, or a clinician looking to broaden your understanding of the commercial side of medicine, this course offers an accessible gateway into one of Canada’s most dynamic sectors.
