Safe & Secure Supply Chain Committee Moves Forward

The Safe and Secure Supply Chain Committee met mid-August to examine information gathered regarding supply chain integrity policies and practices by governments and companies in Europe and the U.S. This research will assist the development of comprehensive CAPDM guidelines related to product storage and transportation, both outbound and reverse, that will help members comply with federal Guideline 0069. A draft document will be provided to CAPDM’s Executive Committee in late November and will be presented to the membership for comment in January 2008.

 Pandemic Planning Committee Moves Forward

CAPDM’s Pandemic Planning Committee continues to review draft guidelines and the related checklist that will provide the supply chain with a thorough, practical guide to pre-plan for a large-scale health emergency. The Committee is examining internal and external resources that will provide further insight to reaching a finalized draft, as well a half-day Round Table session in late October.

CAPDM also plans to meet with industry stakeholders and government representatives to discuss Ontario’s recently passed Bill 171 and how it impacts the supply chain, with particular focus on the government’s powers of seizure of drugs and devices in a pandemic emergency.

Customer Service Committee Updating Information on Product Stewardship

Growing attention by governments and the public to “green issues” has turned the spotlight more intensely on the responsibilities of businesses for good stewardship of the products they make and sell, particularly around product disposal, packaging and weight. To help members better understand their obligations under various provincial stewardship laws and regulations, the Customer Service Committee has begun a comprehensive review of these government-mandated processes and fees, which vary across the provinces and territories, and which are undergoing changes. Updated information will be provided to the membership before year-end.
